Nina Shishkina is a New York–based textile artist working across sculpture, embroidery, and experimental textile processes. Her practice is rooted in materiality and craft, exploring sensuality, otherness, and the tension between the familiar and the strange. Drawing from Asian and Western textile traditions, she treats material as both a physical language and a carrier of cultural memory.

Her work is shaped by more than a decade spent moving between art, haute couture, fashion, and historic textiles—worlds where craftsmanship, ornament, labor, and desire continually overlap. This fluidity between disciplines remains central to her studio practice, which exists somewhere between textile, object, and sculpture.

Shishkina holds an MFA in Textiles from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and a BA in Fashion Textiles from London College of Fashion, UAL. She has taught at RISD, FIT, and Parsons School of Design.

Named a Saatchi Art Rising Star and selected for Vogue Italia Talents, Shishkina has exhibited at the Japan Society and RISD’s Woods-Gerry Gallery. Her textile collections have also been presented at Faunae and Big Bang.
